To make satellite imagery easily accessible – even for users without extensive geo-expertise – Geoserve has developed user-friendly portals and viewers. These tools allow you to explore a collection of satellite images in full detail and compare them side by side.

One example is our TimeSeries viewer. With this tool, you gain access to a large set of satellite images of your area of interest, spanning from the 1970s (or even earlier in some cases) to the present day.

As shown in the adjacent visual, there is also a TimeSeries portal of the Port of Rotterdam. You can try out this portal yourself via the button below.

User Instructions for the TimeSeries Portal:

  • Open the link in your PC browser.
  • Click one of the grey horizontal bars at the bottom to reveal an image.
  • Use the arrow keys (< or >) to navigate to the previous or next image in the timeline.
  • To reduce the number of displayed images, adjust the date range in the top-left corner or set a resolution filter.

To compare images:

  • Display the oldest image you want to compare and click the pin icon in the bottom-left corner.
  • Display the most recent image and click the pin icon again.
  • An eye icon will appear above the pins – click it.
  • A new window will open with a slider in the center. Move the slider back and forth to visually compare both images.

Geoserve developed the Satellite Data Portal on behalf of the Netherlands Space Office (NSO). Visit www.satellietdataportaal.nl. The Satellite Data Portal provides free access to pre-processed satellite data of the Netherlands, with a focus on high-resolution imagery. This data is available to all Dutch users, including those in the Caribbean Netherlands – ranging from businesses, government agencies, and organizations to individual residents located in (Caribbean) Netherlands.
